Daily life in ancient China was tough for all of the people living there. The social classes had all different jobs around the empire and they were all hard in their own way. People who lived in ancient Chinese times were treated badly by the emperor. The emperor had his duties and responsibilities which provided him with a tough life also. The emperor was the leader of the empire; therefore all social classes had to obey him. The emperor wanted to keep his empire strong and wealthy. To achieve this he thought he needed to treat all people dis-respectfully.
Ancient Chinese farmers ate rice, pork, fish and wheat was eaten later. While rice was not only a prominent food for the Chinese today, it was eaten a lot in ancient China. It was the first grain that was grown in the country. The farmers lived in mud houses with tiled or thatched roofs. The rich people in ancient China lived in houses that copied the imperial palace that the farmers lived in. Farmers not only had the job of collecting the food for all of the other social classes but they also had the job of growing and keeping the food in good condition so that the food was healthy for the citizens to eat. The job was a very important one around the empire. Ancient China’s emperor at the time would tell the farmers how much had to be collected or how much had to be watered.
